Below is a sample proposal (statement of intent). This is adapted from a proposal we use to present to our clients and is much longer thasn you are required to produce here – yours should be approximately three pages long. However, it shows you what topics we discuss and how we word things and can be used as a guide for producing your own statement of intent.

Homework

The following tasks need to be completed for lessons held in the week ending 6th November (that’s the week after half term):

• Find a club, friend, local charity or business that wouldn’t mind helping you with your college project – stress to them that this is an exercise and that you’re not actually going to build them a new web site.
• Even if they already have a web site ask them to treat the exercise as a design for a new five page site.
• Interview them to obtain as much information as you can about the new site in accordance with the notes.
• From the notes you take research the competition.
• Create three different story boards showing three different proposed designs for the new site.
• Create a sitemap for the new site.
• Produce a costing for the new site.
• Produce a schedule for the new site build.
• Produce a statement of intent (proposal) for the new site.
• If you want to, include copies of your notes and any mind maps you have created.
• Bind the whole together using a suitable folder and have ready to view by the required date.

This is a detailed piece of homework but you have three weeks to complete it.

You will be required to do this for your end-of-year assignment so do treat this as a dummy run. As ever, I will be available to help but I will not be around half-term week.
